The story began in 2013 with a passion project, designing a friend’s retail space. This was before smartphones and social media became part of daily life. Inspiration came from stacks of interior design magazines and early Pinterest boards, browsed on a desktop with a slow internet connection.
From the start, Tiwana’s approach to design was instinctive and deeply rooted in craftsmanship. He spent time with artisans working with wood, textiles, and metal, learning traditional techniques that celebrated the beauty of handmade work. These experiences opened a window into India’s rich craft heritage, shaped by generations of makers who adapted global techniques and earned appreciation around the world.
Even in fashion, Tiwana chose a different approach. His shoes were made using the traditional Goodyear welted method, built to last and meant to age beautifully. Later came handcrafted jackets, constructed with horsehair canvas and other detail-heavy processes that reflected the same respect for craftsmanship found in his interiors.
As design trends shifted toward minimalism and mass production, Tiwana noticed how traditional skills began to fade. With an old school heart, he remained drawn to pieces that carry the mark of human hands, objects created with care rather than uniform precision.
Over the past decade, he has travelled across India and Europe, exploring heritage sites, studying architecture, and finding inspiration in flea markets, pawn shops, and antique stores. Every place, object, and conversation shaped his sense of design. His work is never about imposing a single style but about reflecting the people who live in those spaces. By listening closely, shaping thoughtful layouts, and curating meaningful details, he creates interiors that feel personal, timeless, and full of life.
Today, the team at Tiwana Amar continues with the same belief, helping clients refine ideas, bring together colors, and choose pieces that make a space truly their own.
